Nichel is an electronic music artist and mixing and mastering engineer based in the UK, working with artists internationally. He is also the founder of Uponground, a platform dedicated to releasing and supporting electronic music.

He studied Music Production at BIMM Institute Brighton and is currently in his final year of a BA (Hons) in Electronic Music Production at BIMM Institute Birmingham.

His work focuses on minimal and groove-driven electronic music, with particular attention to clarity, depth, and translation across club systems and streaming platforms. Approaching each project from both a technical and artistic perspective, Nichel delivers mixes and masters that achieve professional loudness while preserving the identity and emotion of the original track.

Additional Practice

Alongside his production and engineering work, Nichel's practice includes field recording, sound design, and audio work for media.

He works with environmental recordings, foley, and texture-based sound, exploring their integration within electronic music and audiovisual contexts. His technical experience includes Max and FMOD, with a focus on creative and interactive audio workflows.

These disciplines inform his artistic approach and contribute to the sonic identity of his work.

Studio

Nichel works from a hybrid studio environment combining hardware instruments, software, and calibrated monitoring. This setup supports accurate mixing and mastering decisions and ensures reliable translation across club systems, headphones, and streaming platforms.

Core tools include Ableton Live, Elektron instruments, and a monitoring chain based on Adam Audio speakers and Beyerdynamic headphones.
